GARRY KAULITZ is a Full Professor and area head of Printmaking at the University of Alaska Anchorage, USA. During his residence at ´ace he –literally- built a series of 12 monotypes which form the “Ring of Fire” exhibition. In here he used traditional and innovative chine collé, monotype and digital printing techniques as well as collage with gold and cooper leaves. See residence>>
RING OF FIRE Observations on "The Sturgis Bike Rally" and the "Burning Man Project".
I went down a rabbit hole of burned rubber, machined beauties, topless leather and spilled beer only to be spun around and exit in a desert of alter egos riding fantasy creatures in titty parades, breathing dust and spitting fire. Contradictions of flesh and mechanics, speed and nonchalance abide, seeped in traditions of fire, dust and alcohol. Playing the ying and yang of self- indulgence.
